Upon arrival, the aesthetic was pleasing, didn’t have that awful fluoride smell, so less intimidating. Get To Know Your Dentist
Dr. Mariangela Smith
Dr. Mariangela Smith was born in Lima, Peru and moved to the U.S. at the age of 12. She spent the rest of her childhood in nearby Katy, Texas and graduated at the top of her class from Seven Lakes High School. Dr. Smith was always interested in healthcare and chose dentistry after shadowing a few dental professionals. She was drawn to the work-life balance, patient interaction, and detail-oriented work present in the dental field.
Dr. Smith completed her undergraduate education at The University of Texas in Austin, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology in 2013. She then continued to the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After practicing several years as an associate dentist, Dr. Smith founded Collective Dentistry near her hometown of Katy, Texas with the mission of providing an unbeatable, customized patient experience and serving the local community. Most importantly, Dr. Smith is committed to making patients feel comfortable and safe while delivering quality dental care. She is a firm believer in continuing education to address the dental needs of her patients and incorporate the latest innovations. She’s certified in Invisalign, nitrous oxide sedation, and oral sedation for adults.
Dr. Smith is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Greater Houston Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Furthermore, she has attended mission trips to Guatemala and Honduras to serve those in need of dental care. Being fluent in Spanish has not only allowed her to communicate with patients abroad but also cater to the local Spanish-speaking community.
An avid Longhorn fan, Dr. Smith married her husband, Austen (to her luck, an Aggie!) in 2018. They currently live in Houston with their German Shepherd, Enzo. In her free time, Dr. Smith enjoys traveling, shopping, and trying out up-and-coming restaurants in the Houston area. She loves spending quality time with her family and friends and is a regular attendee of her husband’s professional car races!

Once it’s time for your appointment, sit down and relax with a blanket, heated neck pillow, and warm towel. Enjoy TVs with Netflix in our patient rooms or put in some complimentary earplugs to block out the sound. Lip balm is also available upon request. If you anticipate feeling anxious or nervous during treatment, we offer nitrous sedation (laughing gas) and deeper sedation to ensure you have peace of mind.
